When Vidal and Ariel called me to take photographs for their baby announcement, I was extremely excited!  They sent me their idea of a newspaper baby announcement that they found on Instagram.  I immediately started brainstorming to transform their idea into reality.  Here is a list of the equipment I used to create the backdrop:

• Ravelli Backdrop Stand (6 feet tall and 6 feet wide)
• Savage seamless background paper (53 inches wide)
• In this instance, it helped that I had saved many copies of the Houston Chronicle newspaper since the backdrop used several dozen papers. Please tell Ellie that being a hoarder can be beneficial at times!  Haha!
• LOTS of scotch tape to tape the newspapers to the seamless background paper
• Red paint
• Thick paint brushes
• Heart shaped red balloons filled with helium

After assembling the background stand and hanging the background paper, my wife Ellie and my son William were meticulous in hanging the newspapers on the background paper with the scotch tape.  They used several rolls of the tape to ensure the newspapers adhered to the background paper well.  I think they did a great job!

In the background, this photograph shows the seamless background paper hanging from the backdrop stand.  In the foreground, the Cheetahstand QSB-42 softbox is attached to the lightstand.  The light is the Flashpoint XPLOR600 with the extension head.  The extension head helps by preventing the top of the lightstand from being too heavy so the lightstand will not easily topple over.

This is the finished backdrop!  Didn't Ellie and William do a great job!

When Ariel and Vidal came over, they brought some red paint and paint brushes in order to personalize the backdrop with their messages to Baby Zion!

They also brought the ultrasound photos and a personalized newspaper that they created on Canva.  I used the Canon R5 camera with the 24-105mm lens to capture this beautiful couple.

These Nike baby shoes have a special significance.  They were Ariel's shoes when she was a baby!  Isn't that so cool!

I had a great time bringing Ariel's and Vidal's ideas to fruition!  Which of these photographs is your favorite?
